That is why the Ingenics Lean Value Stream Academy centers the cooperation of different functions and the optimization of performance by using lean elements and approaches.
- You will become familiar with the lean philosophy and have a good understanding of lean methods and approaches. Also you will experience the impacts of implementing lean principles yourself by applying the methods.
- You will be able to identify optimization potential in your area of responsibility and in the value stream/supply chain. You will be given an extensive overview of how a functional division’s performance depends on other divisions’ performance and the possibilities for improving overall performance through synchronization. In addition, you will be able to suggest optimization initiatives.
- You will get a better understanding of of how individual elements interact with each other and be able to evaluate, conceive, and carry out optimization initiatives in a value-stream/supply-chain environment.
- You will be able to communicate the benefits and purpose of lean elements in a value-stream/supply-chain context convincingly and lay the foundation for managers and employees to be interested and engaged.
- You will get familiar with the methods and challenges of optimization initiatives in the context of your area of responsibility and the value stream/supply chain. You will also be able to convincingly evaluate optimization concepts, results, and obstacles and respond to them effectively.
- Working sessions will help you define concrete action steps areas to optimize your value stream and optimize cooperation along your value stream and supply chain. You will be able to use these action steps a basis for optimization programs after finishing this course.
- The foundation for applying lean principles and approaches is first laid by examining terminology about adding value, necessary and unnecessary activities, and challenges for supply chains in an organizational context.
- Proven approaches to determine the status of the value stream are presented with an introduction to Value Stream Mapping 4.0 and process mining. Exercises will demonstrate how to create and read value-stream maps and explain how to derive optimization approaches from them.
- By presenting mapping formats such as swim-lane process mapping and working-structure analysis, participants of the Lean Value Stream Academy will be introduced to and expand their knowledge of application-oriented options for analyzing and mapping their own processes and potential. Participants from a wide range of functional divisions enrich the cross-functional approach of the academy course.
- Participants will be given an overview of proven approaches and implementation-oriented formats for optimization. This will help them lead their functional teams based on targets and improve and safeguard the performance of their own function.
These approaches and formats include:
- PDCA and CIP methods
- 5S and Kaizen workshops
- Line-balancing tools, takt, flow
- Standards and systematic problem solving
- Shopfloor and office shopfloor management
- Based on the lean methods and approaches that are communicated, tested, and discussed descriptively, the subsequent stages of the academy course will explain, discuss, and expand on the dependence of organizational output and value-stream performance on synchronized collaboration between individual functional divisions.
What Influences Are There to Increase Overall Value-Stream Performance Through Structured Communication and Coordination, E.G., Using Sales And Operations Planning (S&OP)?
- The influence of component standardization on purchasing, procurement, assembly, and spare-part stocks
- The influence of even, smooth, and stable production targets on the optimally cost-effective use of tools and resources in production, control, procurement and picking
- The influence of timely, as-agreed material supply on production performance
- The influence on the possibilities for sales, engineering, purchasing, procurement, and assembly from cross-functional collaboration.
Participants Draw Conclusions about Areas for Action
Based on this common understanding of dependencies and possibilities created in the Lean Value Stream Academy, specific areas for action are introduced. Approaches for optimizing collaboration and synchronization are defined with the functional divisions in attendance. As a result, the acquired knowledge is used to optimize the value stream and company performance period.
The team spirit that develops as part of the academy course and the establishment of trust and a network between the participants – combined with the optimization approaches that are defined – support the cross-functional collaboration by managers and teams after the course.
